Rivers Casino Quintuples Community Impact with Enterprise-Wide Giving Event

Five Rivers Casinos in four states join forces for “Rivers Gives Day of Service 2023” on Oct. 17

PHILADELPHIA — Oct. 16, 2023 — Rivers Casino and its operating parent company, Rush Street Gaming, are honoring their host communities in the best possible way — with a synchronized celebration of community engagement.

On Oct. 17, more than 6,000 Team Members at Rivers Casino locations — in Pittsburgh, Pa.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Des Plaines, Ill. (Chicago area); Schenectady, N.Y.; and Portsmouth, Va. — will participate in “Rivers Gives Day of Service 2023.” 

This combined initiative is a first for the company’s long-standing localized “Rivers Gives” program. Through Rivers Gives, each Rivers Casino annually contributes approximately 2,000 volunteer hours per property to local nonprofit partners. In addition to volunteerism, Rivers Gives includes board service, donation drives, in-kind contributions and corporate giving.

Rivers Gives will increasingly focus on three imperatives to enhance the quality of life for its regional casino communities: health and human services, workforce development and economic opportunity, and supporting U.S. military and veterans.

In a coordinated effort designed to appreciate and uplift the cities that Rivers Casino respectively calls home, this week’s typical Tuesday workday will start differently. Team Members at each property, through voluntary sign-ups, will report to a local health and wellness nonprofit organization instead of to the gaming floor.

Those casino volunteers will dedicate their time and energy to a wide array of assignments, from toy drops at local children’s hospitals to groundskeeping and cleanups at community health centers to assembling care packages for cancer patients and more.

Across their operating markets, Rivers Casino and Rush Street Gaming annually contribute approximately $14 million to local nonprofit partners and various community groups.

Rivers Casino Philadelphia Partners with Fox Chase Cancer Center

For its Day of Service, Rivers Casino Philadelphia is teaming up with Temple Health’s Fox Chase Cancer Center. Team Members will prepare hundreds of care packages for Fox Chase patients in the casino’s Event Center for delivery to the cancer center’s main campus.

 The care packages will include essential items such as hand sanitizer, water bottles, tissues, lip balm, games and more. Fox Chase is one of the leading comprehensive cancer centers in the United States. The center’s mission is to prevail over cancer by marshaling hearts and minds in bold scientific discovery, pioneering prevention and compassionate care.

 Fox Chase is also Rivers Casino’s Change Makes a Difference program recipient in October, receiving contributions from Team Members and guests throughout the month. A formal check presentation with the month’s donation totals will take place in early November to further celebrate the partnership.

 Other highlights of the day include a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk around the property and Penn Treaty Park, health and wellness resource tables for Team Members, and more.
