Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady to Host Cornhole for a Cause Tournament Sunday, June 29

Proceeds to benefit educational initiatives at William C. Keane Elementary School in Schenectady

Schenectady, NY (June 20, 2025) – Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady will be hosting the Schenectady Rotary Club’s 4th annual Cornhole for a Cause cornhole tournament at the casino’s Event Center on Sunday, June 29. The event, in partnership with the Adirondack Cornhole League (ACL) and Discover Schenectady, will raise funds for the Schenectady Rotary’s Community Schools Initiative to help improve literacy and increase attendance at William C. Keane Elementary School on Albany Street in Schenectady.

 The day-long family-friendly Cornhole for a Cause tournament will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is open to professionals and amateurs alike. Singles and Doubles play will be available in all divisions including Open (advanced), Competitive, Intermediate (social) and Novice. Players will compete for trophies and cash prizes. There will be benefit drawings and auctions and entertainment with DJ Cassius.

 The registration fee is $25 for ACL members and $35 for non-members. There is also a $5 door entry fee for players and spectators (children accompanied by an adult are free). Players can pre-register online at the Schenectady Rotary Club webpage here. On-site registration and check-in will start at 9 a.m. and bags will fly at 10 a.m.

 Last year’s Cornhole for a Cause tournament also raised much-needed funds for literacy and attendance initiatives at Keane Elementary and two years ago the Schenectady Rotary raised funds to refurbish the school’s new community resource room. The community room is open before and after school hours and provides a safe and comfortable place for students and their families to spend time together, have meals, do laundry, and have access to a full kitchen, clothing closets, food pantries, and mental health services.

This year’s raised funds will continue to support scholarships, literacy, attendance, and community interaction while looking forward to establishing a parent-teacher organization to support family involvement and community building.
