Rivers Gives Team Returns to Hosanna House for a Day of Service
Volunteers from Rivers Casino Pittsburgh help maintain Sherwood Event Center
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s Rivers Gives volunteers will once again team up with Hosanna House, a longtime community resource in Wilkinsburg, for a day of service on Wednesday, Aug. 27, starting at 9 a.m.
Casino Team Members will assist with landscaping, maintenance and other facility needs at the Hosanna House’s Sherwood Event Center location on Sherwood Road.
Founded in the early 1990s, Hosanna House provides programs and services that empower children, families and individuals to reach their fullest potential — physically, spiritually and economically. With facilities including the Sherwood Event Center, the nonprofit offers education, health and enrichment opportunities to thousands of local residents annually.
“Rivers Casino’s volunteers have been a valued partner to Hosanna House for many years,” said Leon E. Haynes III, founding CEO and president of Hosanna House. “Their hands-on support helps us keep our spaces ready for the families and community members we serve.”
“Every visit to Hosanna House reminds us of the positive difference they make daily,” said Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “Our Rivers Gives Team Members are proud to contribute to their mission and to support the families who benefit from their important work.”
Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach program in which Team Members report to work at a local nonprofit instead of on the gaming floor.
In June, Rivers Gives volunteers supported Allegheny CleanWays in its beautification efforts along the Ohio River. Team Members helped remove debris, litter and recyclable materials from the shoreline located behind the casino.
