‘Rivers Gives’ and Allegheny CleanWays Come Together for Ohio River Cleanup
Rivers Casino Team Members assist with riverfront beautification initiative
The Rivers Gives team from Rivers Casino will join partner organization Allegheny CleanWays (ACW) for an Ohio River cleanup Wednesday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Casino volunteers will assist in removing litter, debris and recyclable materials from the shoreline directly behind the casino and nearby areas.
ACW has led award-winning cleanup and remediation efforts throughout the region for 26 years, removing millions of pounds of waste from local dumpsites and waterways. The nonprofit’s recent initiative, the Immaculate Collection, removed more than 400 tons of litter ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.
Other programs operated by the organization include DumpBusters, centered on eliminating illegal dumpsites, and the triTRASHlon, an annual biking, camping and cleanup retreat that will take place June 26 to 27. ACW also runs educational programs aimed at combating litter and remediating dumpsites through community outreach and engagement.
“Partnerships like this make a real difference in ensuring the outdoor spaces we all share are clean and accessible for the entire community,” said Michelle Lawler, director of development at ACW. “The impact of these types of collaborations goes beyond a single cleanup, and we couldn’t be happier to team up again with Rivers Gives for some river remediation.”
“We’re pleased to join forces with Allegheny CleanWays for this important cleanup along the Ohio riverfront,” said Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “It’s an actionable way to show appreciation for the organization’s environmental stewardship and to support our neighboring North Shore communities.”
Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach program in which Team Members report to work at a local nonprofit instead of on the gaming floor.
Last month, the Rivers Gives team partnered with Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard to host a post-Memorial Day cookout honoring local veterans and preparing meals for those who served.
