Rivers Casino’s Rahmon Hart To Receive Community Organizer Award
The Center for Victims grant honor to director of community development for Rivers Casino
PITTSBURGH – March 11, 2015 – Rivers Casino’s director of community relations, Rahmon Hart, will receive the Community Organizer Award at the Center for Victims’ (CV) 10th Annual Peace It Together Awards Celebration. The awards will take place March 12, 2015 from 5—8 p.m. at Pittsburgh’s Grand Hall at The Priory.
A Pittsburgh native, Dr. Hart is being celebrated for his work in the community with the Rivers Casino Community Champions and his individual work with the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. As director of community relations for Rivers Casino, Dr. Hart is responsible for developing and cultivating relationships with the community, vendors, business leaders, and key elected and appointed officials. In addition to leading the Rivers Casino Community Champions, Dr. Hart oversees all of the casino’s corporate charitable donations.
“It is an honor to present Dr. Hart with this year’s Community Organizer award in recognition of the important work he is doing in the community,” said Fran Trimpey, director of development for CV. “We are especially honored to be working closely with Dr. Hart on our MEN (Men Ending VioleNce) Campaign and Pledge initiative, which is designed to engage more men in the Center for Victims’ violence prevention programs and speak out about violence against women and girls.”
Each month, the Rivers Casino Community Champions assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. The team worked with CV in October 2014 during the “Paint the Square Purple” event at Market Square in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
CV is the most comprehensive, inclusive provider of services, advocacy and education for victims of all crimes. Since 1976, it has been the leading agency in providing services to victims of rape, sexual assault, domestic violence and all crimes in Allegheny County. For the last decade, CV has held the Peace It Together Awards each year to honor Pittsburgh’s community leaders.
