COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY AT HOSANNA HOUSE

Casino Team Members prep facility for summer programming

PITTSBURGH — June 28, 2021 — Rivers Casino’s long-running community outreach program—“Rivers Gives”—has returned, after taking a hiatus due to COVID-19. Team Members at Rivers sign up monthly to volunteer their time and energy at various Pittsburgh nonprofits. At the end of this month, Rivers Gives will be working at Hosanna House in Wilkinsburg.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 30, Team Members from Rivers Casino will be landscaping a green space used for community-based programming throughout the summer at the Hosanna House facility on Wallace Avenue.

Since the early 1990's, Hosanna House has gathered people and resources together with a single purpose in mind—ending a life cycle of poverty and helping individuals and families reach their maximum potential.

"Hosanna House is a special place for the community. We work every day to foster education, inspire hope and celebrate life,” said Gloria Nelson, development director at Hosanna House. “The volunteers from Rivers Casino have been huge supporters of Hosanna House. Their partnership helps dreams come true for the children and families we serve!”

This is the fifth day of service at Hosanna House by the Rivers Gives team in recent years. Earlier this spring, Rivers Gives volunteers also worked with Manchester Citizens Corporation for an Earth Day initiative benefitting Tree Pittsburgh.

“Our Rivers Gives volunteers are excited to get out there and lend a helping hand to Hosanna House. We’re grateful to be able to come together again for a community volunteer day,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino.
