VOLUNTEER AT HOSANNA HOUSE

Casino volunteers help to prepare facility for summer activities

PITTSBURGH — May 31, 2022 — Time for spring cleaning! Team Members from Rivers Casino will be spending community service hours at Hosanna House, the community center on Wallace Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31. They will be cleaning and landscaping in preparation for an upcoming summer program — the Teen.Co Aviators Camp — where local youth will learn how to fly drones and work flight simulators. Volunteers will also be assembling outdoor furniture.  

Since the early 1990s, Hosanna House has gathered people and resources together with a single purpose in mind—ending a life cycle of poverty and helping individuals and families reach their maximum potential. The Hosanna House offers a long list of programs and services that empower families and individuals to discover, acknowledge and develop their maximum potential physically, spiritually, and economically.

"Rivers Casino’s Rivers Gives Team Members have always been such huge supporters of Hosanna House over the years,” said Gloria Nelson, development director at Hosanna House. “Their volunteer work means the world to us! It will allow us to prepare for the summer season.”

Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach program, in which casino staffers report to work at a local nonprofit instead of the gaming floor. This is the sixth day of service at Hosanna House by the Rivers Gives team in recent years. Earlier this spring, Rivers Gives volunteers also worked with Carnegie Science Center for a “Take Your Child To Work” volunteer day.

“Our Rivers Gives volunteers are grateful and excited to be spending the day outside with the team at Hosanna House. It’s always a meaningful experience for our team to give back,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino.
