Casino Team Members and local organizations clean up the waterways and trails

PITTSBURGH — July 26, 2017 — Rivers Casino Community Champions will volunteer their time to assist Allegheny CleanWays and Friends of the Riverfront to help beautify Pittsburgh’s shorelines and trails as part of the Tireless Project on Friday, July 28, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

As part of the clean-up effort, volunteers from Rivers Casino will join members of Allegheny CleanWays on its 28’ pontoon boat – Rachel Carson – to access hard-to-reach shorelines. Team Members will assist with the removal of invasive plant species and debris from the Ohio River.

The Tireless Project, which started in 2003, is a collaboration between local organizations that were committed to maintaining Pittsburgh’s waterways. Between 2003 and 2016, the Tireless Project has cleaned up more than 608,000 pounds of debris and removed more than 3,500 tires from local waterways.

Friends of the Riverfront will also be participating in the clean-up efforts and will be working to enhance the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.

“We’re thrilled to be working with our friends at Allegheny CleanWays and Friends of the Riverfront again this year,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino. “Any time you’re able to spend a day helping the community, is a great day.”

Each month, Rivers Casino Team Members volunteer their time to support local organizations throughout the region as part of the Rivers Casino Community Champions program. In June, the Rivers Team Members volunteered their time and effort to support the Larimer Consensus Group’s Green Team with the “Love Your Block” project.
