Rivers Casino Community Champions To Volunteer With Life’sWork Of Western PA
North Shore’s Casino to Lend a Helping Hand in Paint Project
PITTSBURGH — Feb. 16, 2017 — The Rivers Casino Community Champions will join forces with Life’sWork of Western PA on Feb. 17 to participate in a painting project from 9 a.m.—2 p.m. In addition to painting, the Community Champions will also assist with woodworking details around the facility.
For 90 years, Life’sWork has championed the cause of individuals with disabilities by providing employment opportunities and avenues to achieving self-sufficiency. The organization’s mission to increase the quality of life of persons with disabilities and with barriers to employment is supported through career development programs and in part by volunteer service.
“The Community Champions team has always looked forward to our volunteer days with Life’sWork,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development at Rivers Casino. “Life’sWork’s efforts continue to be a positive impact on our community and we appreciate the opportunity to lend a hand where we can.”
After multiple years of collaboration, Rivers Casino received the James F. Compton Humanitarian Award from Life’sWork in November 2015 for exemplary commitment to providing employment opportunities for people living with disabilities.
“Our mission is supported through community involvement and it is volunteers like the Rivers Casino Community Champions that help carry our mission forward,” said Timothy Parks, President & CEO of Life’sWork. “The time they offer to help improve our facility so that our clients and staff benefit is greatly appreciated.”
This volunteer effort is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed a service project with The Pittsburgh Project.
