Team Members Join The Woodlands Foundation to Prepare Lodge for Visitors

PITTSBURGH — May 26, 2015 — The Rivers Casino Community Champions will perform a cleanup project at The Woodlands Foundation on May 27 from 9:00 a.m.—3:00 p.m.

Rivers Casino Team Members will be cleaning and painting The Woodlands Lodge while also landscaping the surrounding area in preparation for the Foundation’s many summer programs.

“The efforts of volunteer groups such as the Rivers Casino Community Champions continue to make The Woodlands campus a beautiful and welcoming home away from home for our participants. Each and every hour of work accomplished makes an impact, and allows our surrounding communities and businesses to be a part of our mission,” said executive director of The Woodlands, Peter Clakeley. “Rivers Casino’s involvement in our summer cleanup speaks highly of their focus on community service, and we are very appreciative of the opportunity to host their team of volunteers at The Woodlands.”

The Woodlands Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with disability and chronic illness. Using its fully accessible and barrier-free facilities, the Woodlands’ programs enable participants to experience social, cultural, environmental, recreational and spiritual growth.

“The Woodlands Foundation is a great resource in our community for individuals with special needs. It offers a wide array of summer activities,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development for Rivers Casino. “The Community Champions are proud to help them get ready to welcome this year’s campers.”

This volunteer effort at The Woodlands is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions assisted the Brighton Heights Citizens Federation on an Earth Day trail maintenance project in Brightonwoods Park.
