Rivers Casino Community Champions Kick Off Holiday Season With Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

Casino Team Members Pack Meals with Local Organization

PITTSBURGH — November 17, 2015 —The Rivers Casino Community Champions visited Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank yesterday and assisted in organizing, sorting and packing food for the upcoming holidays.

“The Rivers Casino Community Champions are helping keep Pittsburgh families fed this holiday season and we thank them for their contribution,” said Michael Johnson, community engagement and volunteer program coordinator with Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank aims to feed people in need and mobilize the community to eliminate hunger. The organization distributes more than 27 million meals across Southwestern Pennsylvania annually.

“At this time of year, it is especially meaningful for the Community Champions to support Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and its vital mission,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development at Rivers Casino.

This volunteer effort is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed a service project with Community Kitchen Pittsburgh.
