RIVERS CASINO COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS HELP PACK ITEMS FOR FOOD BANK

Volunteers Lend a Hand as Part of Casino’s Ongoing Commitment to Community

PITTSBURGH Oct. 31, 2014 — Team Members from Rivers Casino will donate their time to help the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on Monday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m.—3 p.m. More than 20 volunteer Community Champions from the casino will convene at the Duquesne Warehouse location to help pack boxes of food.

“For more than five years, our Team Members have been committed to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development for Rivers Casino. “This cause reaches so many people in the community, and we are proud to do our part in supporting these efforts.”

At the event, Rivers Community Champions will pack dozens of boxes with non-perishable food items. The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will then deliver the boxes to food banks throughout Pittsburgh.

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank distributes food and other services to 11 counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. Through outlets such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, after-school programs, senior high-rises, and neighborhood food assistance services, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank distributes nearly two million pounds of food every month.

Volunteering at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Back is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, Rivers Team Members partnered with the Center for Victims to support Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
