Local Veterans Are In For A Holiday Treat From The Rivers Casino Community Champions
Casino Team Members to Deliver Seasonal Goodies with the American Red Cross
PITTSBURGH — Dec. 14, 2016 — The Rivers Casino Community Champions will bring holiday cheer to the Southwestern Veterans’ Center on Thursday, Dec. 15 by caroling and handing out holiday cards and gifts to local veterans as a part of the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces program.
The Southwestern Veterans’ Center caters to veterans who face disability, chronic illness or are in need of specialized care by providing a wide range of health care services and resources for functional independence.
“Lending support to organizations like the Red Cross and the Southwestern Veterans’ Center puts our team in the holiday spirit,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development at Rivers Casino. “We appreciate the opportunity to give thanks to our veterans.”
In addition to the Service to the Armed Forces program, the American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania also provides emergency food and shelter provisions, education in lifesaving CPR and First Aid skill and specialized resources to further assist members of the armed forces and their families.
“Our mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies is carried forward through volunteers like the Community Champions,” said Dan Tobin, director of marketing and communications with the American Red Cross Western Pennsylvania Region. “We extend our thanks to all those who have helped us continue providing aid to those in need.”
This volunteer effort is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed a service project with the Community Kitchen Pittsburgh.
