Rivers Casino Portsmouth unveils interior renderings and amenities for new entertainment and gaming destination

PORTSMOUTH, Va.—May 26, 2021—Rivers Casino Portsmouth, developed and operated by Rush Street Gaming, today released interior renderings for the new gaming and entertainment complex planned for Victory Boulevard. A $300 plus million local investment, the new venue will feature a casino, sportsbook, premier restaurants, a live entertainment lounge, hotel, event center that will host concerts, weddings, meetings, and more.

The newly released renderings highlight Rivers Casino’s elegant promenade, state-of-the-art gaming floor, a BetRivers sportsbook, multiple bar areas flanked with large LED screens, a live music lounge, dining areas with canopy trellis covered seating, and other amenities. Rivers Casino Portsmouth has selected an award-winning team with S.B. Ballard Construction Company and Yates Construction partnering as the general contractor, Kimley-Horn as the engineering consultants, Klai Juba Wald as the architect of record, Jeffrey Beers International as the primary interior designer, and DMAC Architecture as the interior designer of the venues.

The Portsmouth Economic Development Authority has now authorized Rivers to begin work on the project during the operator application process with the Virginia Lottery to ensure the project’s timeline remains on track. Rivers Casino Portsmouth is prepared to begin site work pending Portsmouth City Council’s approval of the use permit.

Once operational, Rivers Casino Portsmouth will generate about $1.3 million per month in new tax revenue for Portsmouth; plus 1,300 new permanent jobs and 1,400 temporary construction jobs. In collaboration with Tidewater Community College, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council and Portsmouth Economic Development, Rivers Casino Portsmouth recently hosted virtual job forums with more than 1,000 job seekers in attendance. Attendees learned about the casino industry’s hiring practices, available job opportunities, and training and certification programs available to help them prepare for potential employment.
