PORTSMOUTH — April 7, 2026 — Bobby Brown is known to bring a showstopping performance to every stage, and his next stop will be The Event Center at Rivers Casino Portsmouth on Friday, June 5, at 8 p.m. 

After rising to international fame as a member of the R&B/pop group New Edition, Brown launched his solo career in 1987—releasing four albums, one remix album, and a string of Top 10 Billboard hits. Fan favorites include the No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single “My Prerogative” on MCA Records and the Grammy Award-winning “Every Little Step.” His album Don’t Be Cruel sold more than 3 million copies and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Pop Chart.

One of the most prominent R&B artists of the late 1980s and early ’90s, Brown was instrumental in popularizing the new jack swing movement, a fusion of soul, electronic funk, and hip-hop. As a leading force behind the genre, he helped bring new jack swing into the mainstream and establish it as a defining sound of the era.

As a solo artist, Brown has sold more than 12 million records worldwide and received numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award, an American Music Award, and a Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award.
