KOOL & THE GANG TO PERFORM AT RIVERS CASINO PORTSMOUTH

PORTSMOUTH, Va.— Dec. 8, 2023 – Legendary R&B and funk band Kool & the Gang will perform live at Rivers Casino Portsmouth’s Event Center on January 20 at 8 p.m. Guests are invited to “Get Down On It” as this concert promises a night of unforgettable music, featuring the band’s celebrated hits that have defined the genre and influenced hip-hop culture. Tickets start at $59 and will go on sale today at 10 a.m.

Kool & the Gang officially launched in 1969, and thanks to iconic songs like “Celebration,” “Cherish,” “Jungle Boogie,” “Summer Madness,” and “Open Sesame,” the band boasts a following that spans generations. With more than 50 years in the industry, they've earned two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits, and 31 gold and platinum albums.

The heavily-in-demand band has continued to tour the world, appearing most recently alongside Kid Rock, Dave Matthews Band, Elton John, The Roots, and a 50-city tour with the legendary rock band, Van Halen.

Today, the band enjoys global fame and recognition and a loyal following due in part to the group’s widely sampled catalog.
