Rivers Gives – ‘Tis the Season for Giving

Through Rivers Gives, the casino’s community engagement initiative, Rivers Casino Portsmouth actively engages in community service, focusing on volunteerism, corporate giving, and donation drives. In November, Rivers Casino Team Members donated 300 turkeys to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, and Communities in Schools of Hampton Roads. Additionally, Team Members volunteered at the Foodbank’s Annual Mayflower Marathon Food and Fund Drive and participated in the VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads Family Volunteer Day — rolling up their sleeves to help with the Teens with a Purpose Community Garden.

The spirit of giving will continue through the month of December. On Dec. 8, Rivers Casino will donate 250 gifts to HER Shelter — collected through a Team Member-organized gift drive.  In partnership with Wreaths Across America, Team Members will also lay wreaths at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth on Dec. 16 to remember and honor fallen service members during the holiday season. 

Casino guests will have an opportunity to join the casino’s philanthropic efforts by donating chips, vouchers, and cash to support the December charity partner, Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless.
