Science Center’s ‘21+ Gaming’ To Explore Science Of Games

Event to Offer Board, Video, Role-Playing and Casino Games 

PITTSBURGH — June 8, 2015 — Carnegie Science Center’s next adults-only night will explore the science of gaming. The event, 21+ Gaming, will be held on Friday, June 19, from 6–10 p.m. Activities will uncover the science behind board games, video games, role-playing games and casino games.

Rivers Casino will be on-site offering hands-on practice with blackjack, roulette and craps in the Science Center’s Works Theater. Event attendees will get the chance to use training cards and chips to play these favorite casino table games. All guests must present valid state-issued photo ID and be age 21 or over to participate in activities with Rivers Casino.

Guests can play board games or get a crash course intro to role-playing games with the Gaming Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania. A Minecraft server will offer the chance to explore a virtual science center. Event-goers can make some new friends and get interactive with games from City of Play, such as Sebastian Joust and Scattershot.

Other activities will include probability demonstrations with dice and the classic Monty Hall Problem brain teaser.

As always, 21+ Night features the chance to experience four floors of hands-on exhibits– with no kids! Exhibits include SpacePlace, roboworld™, and the Miniature Railroad & Village®. Cash bars are located throughout the building, and snacks are available for purchase.

Local groove rock band “Charm and Chain” will perform in the Robot Lounge.

Cost is just $10 for tickets purchased by noon the day of the event, or $15 if purchased at the door.

For a few dollars more, visitors can watch an Omnimax movie on Pittsburgh’s biggest screen or catch a laser show in the Buhl Planetarium.

Carnegie Science Center’s monthly 21+ Nights are sponsored by Mazda, Bob FM, Q 92.9 and Yelp. The USS Requin submarine and Highmark SportsWorks® will not be open during the event.
