PHILADELPHIA — Sept. 24, 2020 — The Philadelphia Business Journal celebrated Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s community relations manager Emily Doñes as a 40 Under 40 winner. The honor recognizes current and future leaders in various industries in the Greater Philadelphia area. Doñes was one of the 40 recognized leaders who were selected from among over 300 nominations.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 40 Under 40 winners were honored during a virtual celebration on Thursday, Sept. 24. In addition to the ceremony, the individuals were highlighted in the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 special issue on Friday, May 22.

Doñes joined Rivers, formerly SugarHouse Casino, in 2016 and represents the casino throughout the city during community outreach initiatives and volunteer events. She oversees the casino's Rivers Gives community relations program, as well as builds and maintains strong relationships with community organizations, leaders and elected officials.

“Emily is a key member of our team, and has been instrumental in helping Rivers assist people in need throughout Philadelphia during the pandemic," said Peter Longi, Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s interim general manager. “We’re lucky to have her both at the casino and in the community."

Beyond her role as a Rivers Casino ambassador, Doñes remains personally committed to many organizations throughout the city and volunteers at Norris Square Senior Center, Visitation Community Center and Lutheran Settlement House, where she was recently named to the Board of Directors, in addition to being Event Chair. Doñes is also active on various boards in the Fishtown community.

Prior to her career in the gaming industry, Doñes worked in event planning and in education as a teacher. She transitioned her passion for helping others in the classroom to helping improve the lives of individuals in the local community.

Doñes earned a Bachelor of Science from Bloomsburg University and a Masters of Education from Lehigh University.
