Rivers Casino Philadelphia Celebrates Earth Day With Community Service Days
PHILADELPHIA — April 5, 2021 — Everyday is Earth Day when it comes to appreciating and preserving our environment, and while Earth Day’s official date is April 22, Rivers Casino Philadelphia is celebrating all month long. Casino Team Members are volunteering at the Citywide Cleanup and The Friends of Penn Treaty Park tree and shrub planting events on Saturday, April 10 and April 17, respectively.
These volunteer days are a part of Rivers Gives, the casino’s ongoing community relations program, where Rivers Casino Team Members volunteer hundreds of service hours annually to the Fishtown neighborhood and surrounding areas. This month, the casino is supporting Lutheran Settlement House as well as the Gift of Life Family House. Proceeds from Team Member dining specials in April will be donated to the Gift of Life Family House in recognition of National Donate Month.
"As Earth Day approaches, Rivers Gives is honored to help our neighborhood and the environment — whether that’s through citywide cleanups or through our gaming donation options. We’re proud to support and give back to our community," said Emily Doñes, community relations manager at Rivers Casino Philadelphia.
Guests can join Rivers Gives in supporting monthly initiatives that benefit local nonprofits when cashing their gaming vouchers.
Citywide Cleanup
Rivers Gives supports the City of Philadelphia’s Citywide Cleanup on Saturday, April 10, where residents, organizations, businesses and nonprofits work together to remove trash and help beautify the city’s outdoor and shared spaces. Dozens of casino Team Members will volunteer to help clean parks, gardens and more near the Front Street and Girard Avenue area of the city.
For more information or to participate in the Citywide Cleanup, individuals or groups can contact their local community leaders or visit PhiladelphiaStreets.com.
The Friends of Penn Treaty Park Tree and Shrub Planting
Rivers Casino Team Members will also volunteer at The Friends of Penn Treaty Park tree and shrub planting event on Saturday, April 17. Team Members will plant shrubs along the Delaware River, and help with trash removal, weeding, and plant and tree care, in order to improve wildlife habitats and aid in neighborhood beautification. The Friends of Penn Treaty Park will provide tools, training and equipment to all participants.

All COVID-19 health and safety protocols remain in place during Rivers Gives events on and off property, including masks or approved face coverings, temperature checks, and social distancing, with no exceptions. Team Members continue to complete Daily COVID-19 Self Assessments, which have proven effective in keeping individuals who may have been exposed to the virus elsewhere away from the property.
Rivers Gives is proud to continue the casino’s steadfast commitment to the city of Philadelphia by partnering with dozens of local organizations each year. In March, Rivers supported the PHL COVID-19 Relief Fund as well as the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Region. In May, the casino is looking forward to supporting the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia.
