Music of iconic Philly singer performs in The Event Center on Sept. 2

PHILADELPHIA — July 12, 2022 — Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge and the “We Are Family” Tour will echo through Philadelphia as she performs the band’s global anthem at Rivers Casino Philadelphia alongside a full band on Friday, Sept. 2, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets for The Event Center concert start at $29 and go on sale Friday, July 15, at 10 a.m.

Kathy was born into a family of prodigious musical talent that also included sisters Joni, Kim and Debbie, and they formed the Philadelphia-based group Sister Sledge in 1971. The band created a unique sound that earned Grammy nominations, No. 1 hits and timeless global anthems. The lyrics to their hit song “We Are Family,” beautifully sung by Kathy, were inspired by the real-life dynamic between the four sisters and propelled them to worldwide fame. Kathy’s artistic triumphs encompass chart-topping hits, platinum albums and successful forays into several genres of popular music.
