Press Release
Jul 16, 2020

PHILADELPHIA—July 16, 2020—When Rivers Casino Philadelphia reopens on Friday, July 17, at 9 a.m., guests can expect a familiar welcoming atmosphere with some noticeable differences due to COVID-19.

For starters, Rivers Casino will open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. and around-the-clock on weekends starting Fridays at 9 a.m. through Mondays at 5 a.m. The new downtime will be used for property-wide deep cleaning in addition to continuous sanitizing throughout each day.

Rivers Casino Philadelphia follows best practices from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and meets or exceeds all COVID-19 Casino Reopening Protocols announced by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) in May. Additionally, Rivers Casino adheres to all guidelines issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and meets all operating requirements set by the City of Philadelphia.

These changes and more are part of an all-new initiative called, "Rivers Clean." And the signs of change are everywhere — literally.

"RIVERS CLEAN" TAKES SANITIZING TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL

Rivers Clean is a rigorous new property-wide cleaning and disinfectant program introduced by Rivers Casino Philadelphia to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

In addition to traditional shifts to clean the property, the expanded Environmental Services Team—now called the Rivers Clean Team—has been fortified with ongoing overlapping shifts, Environmental Protection Agency-approved disinfectants and additional commercial cleaning equipment.

Hard surfaces and high-touch and high-traffic areas will receive extensive and ongoing attention, along with a new focus on sanitizing games and gaming pieces. Prior to reopening, nearly every inch of the property, including all slot machines and table games, have been cleaned and inspected by the Rivers Clean Team.

Rivers Casino Philadelphia also has recently upgraded its HVAC system to include airPHX®, a patented technology that continuously disinfects indoor air and eliminates coronavirus on surfaces. Rivers Casino also features AtmosAirTM, an indoor air quality purification system that has been proven to neutralize coronavirus by more than 99.9%. For more information, visit airphx.com and atmosair.com.

"We’re excited to welcome everybody back to the casino with our new technologies and protocols in place," said Rivers Casino General Manger Rob Long. "The goal of the Rivers Clean Team is to help maintain the health and safety of our Philly Team Members, guests and the community."

Fuchsia-colored shirts featuring the new Rivers Clean check-mark logo will help identify the Rivers Clean Team to guests. Upon return, guests will also discover new fuchsia-colored signs across the gaming floor to identify approximately 120 new stations with hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes. This is in addition to hand sanitizer available at every table game, as well as at various counters throughout the casino.

Slot customers are encouraged to wipe down their machines before and after use or to flag down a Rivers Clean Team Member, who will happily oblige.

UPDATED GAMING PROTOCOLS

To promote social distancing, Rivers Casino will be limiting gaming floor capacity to 25% occupancy until further notice. Slots will either be placed in alternating operational order or be separated by plexiglass. Seating at table games like blackjack has been reduced to no more than three positions per game, while baccarat has been reduced to four players per table; plexiglass will separate all positions, including that of the dealer. For standing games such as craps and roulette, players will be separated by plexiglass. The Poker Room will not reopen until further notice, per PGCB guidelines.

Guests are required to visibly clean their hands before touching chips and cards. Chips carried in by guests will be swapped with sanitized chips. Chips that are cashed in will not go back in circulation until they are sanitized again. Dice will be cleaned repeatedly. Card decks will be routinely replaced with fresh decks throughout each day.

Rivers Casino’s BetRivers Sportsbook will reopen with limited and socially distant seating. Betting kiosks are now separated by plexiglass. Plexiglass has also been installed at Sportsbook windows, the Rush Rewards desk and the cashiers’ counter.

THE NEW GUEST EXPERIENCE

In addition to the Rivers Clean program, which will be integrated fully and continuously across the entire property, guests themselves will play a critical role in helping keep Rivers Casino Philadelphia a safe and healthy environment.

Masks will be required for everybody, and all guests will have their temperatures taken upon arrival. No one with a reading of 100.4 degrees or higher will be permitted entry.

There will be no indoor dining or beverage service, alcoholic or otherwise. Bottled water will be available for guests on Jack’s Bar + Grill patio, located at the east side of the property along the Delaware River.

There will be no smoking or use of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, anywhere inside the casino. Designated smoking areas will be available outside the casino.

Guests will be asked to comply with all hygiene requirements from the CDC, which are posted throughout the property, including social distancing, frequent hand washing, and to stay home if feeling unwell.

THE NEW TEAM MEMBER EXPERIENCE

All Rivers Team Members’ temperatures also will be checked upon their arrival, and all Team Members are required to wear masks and if a Team Member elects, a face shield or safety eyewear. Gloves will be required for dealers, cashiers and other positions where items may be handed to guests or to each other. Masks, face shields and gloves for Team Members are supplied by the casino. Uniforms will be cleaned according to CDC guidelines.

Team Members are required to complete Daily COVID-19 Self-Assessments before reporting to work. Using a company-provided thermometer, Team Members also are encouraged to monitor their health carefully and to promptly utilize telemedicine benefits. If there’s any indication a Team Member may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, or has contracted or been exposed to COVID-19, he/she will be advised to not report to work and to seek treatment or a medical assessment. Team Members who might otherwise feel unwell are asked to stay home.

COVID-19 training will be provided to all Team Members to reinforce new operations protocols and to help identify symptoms of COVID-19 in themselves and others.

A complete list of property-wide safety precautions and gaming floor modifications — introduced to help protect our guests and Team Members — will be published on the casino’s website at RiversCasino.com/Philadelphia.

"We appreciate the support of our Team Members and the community as we work together to move forward under these unprecedented conditions," added Long.
