Rivers Gives Team Returns to National Aviary for Take Your Child To Work Day
Casino volunteers and their children team up for a day of service and bird-focused fun
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s Rivers Gives volunteers will once again flock to the National Aviary alongside their children for Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 24.
Kids of casino Team Members will enjoy a day of discovery and hands-on learning centered on avian wildlife, with activities including a scavenger hunt through bird habitats and live feedings. Our junior birdkeepers for the day will even get the chance to meet some of the National Aviary’s feathered residents up close.
The National Aviary is America’s only independent indoor nonprofit zoo dedicated to birds. Located in Allegheny Commons Park on Pittsburgh’s historic Northside, the National Aviary is home to more than 500 birds, representing more than 150 species from around the world, many of them threatened or endangered in the wild.
“We’re always delighted to welcome Rivers Casino’s Team Members and their children back to the National Aviary,” said Becca Hansborough-Stoudt, content and communications manager at National Aviary. “This annual visit is a special tradition that combines all the things kids enjoy — fun, learning and up-close experiences with animals.”
“Take Your Child to Work Day is a wonderful opportunity to inspire learning beyond the classroom,” said Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “We’re proud to partner again with the National Aviary and share this meaningful experience with our Team Members and their families.”
Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach initiative, in which team members report to work at a local nonprofit instead of the gaming floor.
Last month, the Rivers Gives team partnered with Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Northside Common Ministries to support the Northside Food Pantry by stocking shelves and helping out with food distribution.
