‘Rivers Gives’ Returns to Community Kitchen Pittsburgh for First Volunteer Project of 2026
Casino Team Members to assist with meal prep and contribute to culinary training programs
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s “Rivers Gives” team is getting ready for a strong start to its volunteer year, jumping into a day of service on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Community Kitchen Pittsburgh (CKP).
Team Members from Rivers Casino will work alongside CKP staff to help out with meal preparation, creating ready-to-go meals for community members in need while supporting the organization’s culinary training programs.
CKP uses food as the foundation to change lives and strengthen communities, providing culinary training and opening career pathways to individuals who experience barriers to employment.
CKP operates under the principle that everyone who enters its doors is inherently worthy and has the potential to reach and exceed their goals — regardless of past or present circumstances. CKP works to provide opportunities for success and lifelong careers to its individual clients.
“We’re pleased to welcome the Rivers Gives volunteers back to Community Kitchen Pittsburgh,” said Jennifer Flanagan, executive director and founder of CKP. “Their hands-on support enhances our training and meal preparation, which directly impact the Pittsburgh community.”
“We’re proud to kick off 2026 by supporting one of our longtime community partners and its mission of creating opportunity through culinary training and skill development,” said Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “The Rivers Gives team is grateful for the chance to give back to such a meaningful and community-focused cause.”
Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach program in which Team Members report to work at a local nonprofit instead of on the gaming floor.
In December, the Rivers Gives team partnered with the Iota Phi Foundation of Pittsburgh, supporting the organization’s annual Pittsburgh Omega Christmas Toy Giveaway by wrapping hundreds of toys and helping distribute them, along with turkeys and hams, to local families during the event.
