RIVERS CASINO TEAM MEMBERS PUT “GREEN THUMBS” TO WORK

Team Members Lend a Helping Hand to Beautify Brighton Heights Neighborhood

PITTSBURGHSept. 23, 2014 – Rivers Casino Community Champions will volunteer their time with the Brighton Heights Citizen Federation’s (BHCF) Garden and Green Space Committee to replant flower beds and remove weeds in the Brighton Heights community. The team of volunteers will lend a hand today, Sept. 23, from 9:30 a.m.— 4 p.m.

“It’s important to Rivers to help beautify and maintain neighborhoods like Brighton Heights, which is a vital part of the Pittsburgh landscape,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development for Rivers Casino.

The Brighton Heights Citizen Federation is committed to the advancement of neighborhood improvements and creating a greater sense of community.  The Garden and Green Space Committee manages the purchasing, planning, planting, and maintenance of many flower gardens in the Brighton Heights community.

“Thanks to the Rivers Casino Community Champions, we’re able to continue the upkeep of the Brighton Heights community,” said Susan Benn, Chair of the BHCF Garden and Green Spaces Committee.

The beautification is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, Rivers Team Members helped to update the outdoor area around The Northside Coalition for Fair Housing and assisted with removing the gymnasium floor at A Giving Heart’s community center in Mt. Oliver.
