PITTSBURGH — Oct. 1, 2014 — Rivers Casino and the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA) announced today that $2.9 million has been received from Rivers and put toward construction expenses for CONSOL Energy Center.
Per agreement with the SEA, Rivers Casino makes two transfers annually, April 1 and October 1, totaling $7.5 million. To date, Rivers has generated $40.4 million to help fund CONSOL Energy Center.
In 2038, when the agreement concludes, Rivers Casino will have contributed $225 million to help build CONSOL Energy Center, home of the Pittsburgh Penguins and one of the city’s premiere entertainment venues.
“Rivers Casino is pleased to honor our commitment to the SEA and the Penguins,” said Craig Clark, general manager of Rivers Casino. “We wish the team the very best this season. Let’s go Pens!”
Pens will Honor Rivers Casino at Oct. 9 Home Opener
To recognize the ongoing contributions that Rivers Casino makes to the City of Pittsburgh and its hometown hockey team, the Pittsburgh Penguins will install a commemorative plaque inside CONSOL. The plaque will be unveiled at the upcoming home opener game on Thursday, Oct. 9, when the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Anaheim Ducks.
“Rivers Casino has been a true partner to the Penguins organization,” said David Peart, senior vice president of sales and service for the Pittsburgh Penguins. “We’re grateful for Rivers’ continued investment in the building that we call home.”
Rivers has also been a longtime supporter of the Mario Lemieux Foundation and Penguins Alumni Charities.
