New Pittsburgh Courier selects Dr. Rahmon Hart as recipient of prestigious honor

PITTSBURGH – Dec. 12, 2017 – Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations for Rivers Casino, will be presented with a Men of Excellence award by the New Pittsburgh Courier on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Fairmont Hotel.

The Men of Excellence award was created to recognize African American men who encourage members of the community through leadership, achievements and service. The award also honors those who inspire others to strive for excellence in their profession.

As the primary liaison between community partners and the casino, Dr. Hart works directly with the executive team, department leaders and Team Members on multiple programs that directly support local charity and community-focused organizations. He has also served on numerous boards and committees throughout the City of Pittsburgh that focus on improving the overall quality of life for a diverse range of residents in the region.

Dr. Hart is responsible for managing Rivers Casino’s corporate and charitable donations, as well as for overseeing the “Pittsburgh Proud” program, which enables casino patrons to make contributions to support different charities every month. In 2017, these efforts led to more than $200,000 being donated to deserving organizations around Allegheny County.

“We're very proud of everything Rahmon has accomplished and we're so pleased he is receiving the recognition he deserves,” said Craig Clark, general manager of Rivers Casino.

Along with Dr. Hart’s other community focused initiatives, he is responsible for managing the Rivers Casino Community Champions program. This program encourages casino Team Members to spend a day volunteering to support a service project that benefits a Pittsburgh community. Through these efforts, almost 2,000 hours of community support will have been provided to local organizations by the end of the year.

“It's such a tremendous honor to be recognized by the New Pittsburgh Courier with a Men of Excellence award,” said Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations for Rivers Casino. “Congratulations to all the honorees!”
