RIVERS CASINO PITTSBURGH’S “RIVERS GIVES” TEAM
VOLUNTEERS WITH THE SALVATION ARMY AND WTAE’S PROJECT BUNDLE UP
PITTSBURGH — Nov. 2, 2022 — “Rivers Gives” volunteers from Rivers Casino Pittsburgh are getting ready for the brisk weather this year. On Thursday, Nov. 3, from noon to 2:30 p.m., the Rivers Gives team will volunteer with WTAE-TV’s project Bundle - Up and take a group of senior citizens on a shopping trip to buy warm clothes at the Walmart in Carnegie. This will be a joint initiative coordinated by The Salvation Army.
WTAE-TV’s project Bundle - Up is a joint venture between WTAE-TV and The Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania. This program provides children, ages 18 and under, and seniors, ages 62 and over, with brand new winter outerwear.
This shopping trip experience will provide approximately 15 seniors with an opportunity to pick out all-new coats, hats, gloves and scarves. Each Team Member will act as a guide, liaison and friend to the senior with whom they are partnered.
“Our Rivers Casino Team Members are looking forward to getting out there and going on a fun shopping trip with local senior citizens,” said Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “This is a project we look forward to annually.”
“We would like to thank Dr. Hart and the ‘Rivers Gives’ team for their support year-after-year,” said Victoria Gill, Director of WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up. “This is more than a shopping trip. These volunteers are helping ensure senior citizens have the items they need to stay warm and safe during the cold winter months.”
Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach program, in which casino Team Members report to work at a local nonprofit instead of the gaming floor. Earlier this summer, Rivers Gives volunteers also worked with Community Kitchen Pittsburgh packaging ready-to-go meals that fed families in need.
