RIVERS CASINO PITTSBURGH’S “RIVERS GIVES” TEAM
VOLUNTEERS WITH COMMUNITY KITCHEN PITTSBURGH

PITTSBURGH — Sept. 29, 2022 — Team Members from Rivers Casino Pittsburgh will be volunteering with Community Kitchen Pittsburgh (CKP) today, Thursday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. The Rivers Gives team will be helping to fulfill CKP’s mission of providing healthy meals and snacks to people who need them. Volunteers will be packaging ready-to-eat meals that will go to families in need and to homeless shelters. They will also be helping with various administrative items (sorting, filing, data entry, etc.) within the facility.

Community Kitchen Pittsburgh uses food as the foundation to change lives and strengthen communities by providing culinary training and opening career pathways to individuals who experience barriers to employment. CKP operates with the idea that every person who comes through their doors is inherently worthy and has the potential to reach and exceed their goals, regardless of their past or present. CPK works to provide opportunities for success and lifelong careers to their individual clients.

“Our group at Rivers Casino really loves working with Community Kitchen Pittsburgh,” said Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “They have a unique mission. The work they do is extremely beneficial to the children, families, and communities they serve.”

Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach program, in which casino staffers report to work at a local nonprofit instead of the gaming floor. Earlier this summer, Rivers Gives volunteers also worked with The Woodlands removing an old fence from the property.
