Rivers Casino Pittsburgh's 'Rivers Gives' Team to Assist Veterans Place

PITTSBURGH — Aug. 29, 2023 — “Rivers Gives” volunteers from Rivers Casino Pittsburgh will partner with Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard as it readies transitional housing for homeless veterans. Instead of reporting to the casino for work that day, select Rivers Team Members will arrive at Veterans Place on Wednesday morning, Aug. 30. 

Volunteers from Rivers will spend their time at the Veterans Place campus cleaning and organizing townhouses designated as transitional homes for local homeless veterans and assisting with campus beautification to create a welcoming environment for veterans.

Veterans Place is a Pittsburgh nonprofit organization focused on combating homelessness among U.S. military veterans throughout the community. Annually, the organization assists more than 800 homeless veterans, offering resources including a transitional housing program, a drop-in service center, the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program and more.

“We’re excited to have the Rivers Gives team roll up their sleeves and join us,” said Maria Mongelluzzo, development manager of Veterans Place. “Helping our region’s veterans get back on their feet is both an honor and a responsibility, and we’re grateful for Rivers Casino’s support.”

Founded in 1996, Veterans Place empowers and facilitates veterans’ transition from homeless to home, ending the cycle of homelessness and helping at-risk veterans to become engaged in their communities.
