Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s ‘Rivers Gives’ Team Partners With Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s Rivers Gives team will make its way to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to help with food prep ahead of the year-end holidays.

Casino volunteers will work at Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank throughout the morning and will assist with organizing, sorting and packing food to support area families by creating access to nutritious meals.

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank was founded in 1980 and addresses food insecurity across 11 counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. Partnering with more than 1,000 organizations, it distributes millions of meals annually while advocating for lasting solutions to hunger.

“Volunteers play a crucial role in helping us ensure everyone in our community has access to nutritious food,” said Kara Travers, corporate and community fundraising event coordinator for Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. “We’re especially grateful for Rivers Casino’s support during the holiday season, when the need is at its highest.”

Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach program, in which casino staffers report to work at a local nonprofit instead of on the gaming floor.

In November, the Rivers Gives team volunteered with A Giving Heart, a local nonprofit focused on helping families with children meet some of their daily challenges by providing engagement opportunities and essential services.
