RIVERS CASINO PITTSBURGH SURPASSES $100 MILLION IN PAYMENTS TO THE SPORTS & EXHIBITION AUTHORITY FOR PPG PAINTS ARENA

PITTSBURGH — Oct. 1, 2022 — Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA) announced today that Rivers Casino has now paid $101.5 million toward construction of PPG Paints Arena.

Rivers Casino contributes $7.5 million annually to the SEA, with installments occurring in April and October each year. The casino paid $4 million on October 1.

Rivers Casino has honored this community commitment without interruption despite pandemic shutdowns throughout 2020 and early 2021 that halted the casino industry nationwide.

By 2038, Rivers Casino will have contributed a total of $225 million per agreement with the SEA for the arena’s construction, which was completed in 2010. Rivers Casino opened in August of 2009.

“We’re always proud to support the Pittsburgh Penguin’s home ice and our community partners at the SEA,” said Bud Green, general manager at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “PPG Paints Arena is a terrific facility and a tremendous community asset.”

Rivers Casino generates approximately $160 million annually for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh, including the city’s economic development and tourism fund.

“Our thanks to Rivers Casino for reaching this milestone and for its ongoing support of PPG Paints Arena,” said Aaron Waller, executive director of the Sports & Exhibition Authority. “We appreciate this great public and private enterprise collaboration that significantly benefits our region.”
