RIVERS CASINO PITTSBURGH PARTNERS WITH MANCHESTER CITIZENS CORPORATION FOR A COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY WITH TREE PITTSBURGH

PITTSBURGH April 19, 2021 Earth Day is the perfect day for Rivers Casino Pittsburgh to resume the Rivers Gives recurring community service initiative. In partnership with Manchester Citizens Corporation, Rivers Gives volunteers will spend Thursday, April 22, with Tree Pittsburgh picking up litter, weeding, and mulching around tree pits on Chateau Street.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Tree Pittsburgh is an environmental nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community vitality by restoring and protecting the urban forest through tree planting and care, education, advocacy, and land conservation. Tree Pittsburgh’s vision is to create a healthy urban forest for all by inspiring and engaging people to maintain, plant and protect trees. They believe a greener city will create more vital communities for generations to come.

"Mulching trees is very important for the tree’s overall health," said Erin Gaughan, volunteer and special events coordinator at Tree Pittsburgh. “We’re so grateful for these volunteers and are looking forward to partnering with MCC and Rivers Casino to care for trees on Earth Day!”

This volunteer opportunity is part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program, Rivers Gives. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community.

"Our Rivers Gives volunteers are more than happy to get outside this Earth Day and help out our friends at Tree Pittsburgh—we’re looking forward to doing service work alongside MCC to support our environment," said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh.

“The Rivers Casino Team Members have always been and always will be a cherished part of our community,” said LaShawn Burton-Faulk, executive director at Manchester Citizens Corporation. “To do volunteer work with them is a treat!”
