Rivers Casino Pittsburgh Makes $4.6 Million Payment to the S.E.A.
$124.6 million paid to date toward construction of PPG Paints Arena

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh paid $4.6 million today toward the construction expense of PPG Paints Arena. The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA) and the casino jointly announced that $124.6 million has now been funded to date.

Rivers Casino contributes $7.5 million annually to the SEA for the arena’s construction debt financing, with installments occurring in October and April each year. The next installment will be paid on April 1, 2026.

By 2038, Rivers Casino will have contributed a total of $225 million per agreement with the SEA for the arena’s construction, which was completed in 2010. Rivers Casino opened in August 2009.

“We wish the Pittsburgh Penguins all the best for the upcoming season,” said Bud Green, general manager of Rivers Casino. “We’re honored to support the Penguins’ home ice, PPG Paints Arena, and the SEA — and applaud the collaboration that this important community asset represents.”

Rivers Casino generates approximately $160 million annually for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh, including the city’s economic development and tourism fund.

“PPG Paints Arena recently celebrated its 15th anniversary, having welcomed approximately three million guests annually since opening in August 2010,” said Aaron Waller, executive director of the Sports & Exhibition Authority. “Allegheny County continues to thrive as a destination market, and we appreciate Rivers Casino’s contributions.”
