Rivers Casino Connects Pittsburgh Business Leaders At Annual Supplier Diversity Event
SHARE 2018 brings businesses together to explore opportunities for minority programs
PITTSBURGH — April 18, 2018 — Top Pittsburgh economic powerhouses and community organizations are coming together at Rivers Casino on Thursday, April 19, for the fourth annual SHARE supplier diversity event. The SHARE event offers the unique opportunity to unite the Pittsburgh region’s most prominent corporations and institutions with minority, women and disadvantaged business enterprise (MWDBE) suppliers to expand opportunities and increase growth among area MWDBEs.
The yearly SHARE event allows these groups to connect and explore opportunities to do business together. SHARE is an occasion for MWDBEs to showcase what they can offer to the region’s largest corporations that they seek to do business with, and for corporations to educate on their programs and business practices, and to find effective MWDBE suppliers to support their needs.
“It’s always an honor to host the SHARE event here at Rivers,” said Rahmon Hart, Director of Community Relations for Rivers Casino. “It’s a special moment to have Pittsburgh’s strongest economic leaders come together to continue the discussion of integrating diverse businesses into our city’s marketplace.”
Mayor Bill Peduto will join Lynne Hayes-Freeland, CEO of LHF Communications, and Rich Fitzgerald, Allegheny County Executive, in welcoming the MWDBE suppliers and corporations to Rivers Casino. The afternoon consists of matchmaking sessions for MWDBE representatives and participating institutions, where MWDBEs pitch their capabilities to corporations who provide helpful information on their supplier diversity program. The keynote speaker for the event will be Geovette Washington, Senior Vice Chancellor and Chief Legal Officer, University of Pittsburgh.
“The SHARE 2018 event continues to be a premier community collaboration in the city of Pittsburgh,” said Toni Y. Silva, director of supplier relations at UPMC. “This event has become an excellent medium for corporations to meet and partner with a pool of the region’s finest MWDBEs.”
The 2018 SHARE program is sponsored, organized and presented by a committee of representatives from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), PNC Financial Services Group, City of Pittsburgh, Rivers Casino, Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council, Allegheny County’s MWDBE Department, the African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania, Highmark Health and the Women’s Business Enterprise Council. Additional sponsors include The New Pittsburgh Courier, Gateway and PJ Dick.
