PITTSBURGH  Aug. 27, 2019  On Thursday, Aug. 29, Rivers Casino Community Champions will head outside for community service with The Woodlands. Team Members will do a wide range of landscaping tasks and will clean the various cabins located on the grounds in preparation for the weekend retreats The Woodlands has throughout the year.

The Woodlands is where children and adults with disabilities and chronic illnesses find the freedom and empowerment to experience programs that enrich lives. Fully accessible and barrier-free facilities open new doors to safe, inclusive and engaging opportunities for participants. The staff is committed to facilitating social, cultural, environmental, recreational and spiritual growth through hands-on experiences.

“Rivers Casino Team Members are always such a pleasure to work with—this month’s visit will be no different,” said Mikayla DiCesare, special events and corporate relations coordinator at The Woodlands. “Here at The Woodlands, we do whatever we can to assist people with disabilities. We’re really looking forward to the Rivers Casino community cleanup day.”

This volunteer opportunity is part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recent, the Rivers Casino Community Champions volunteered with Allegheny CleanWays and Friends of the Riverfront. Team Members donated time to remove trash that accumulated along the shore. Other tasks included trail maintenance and invasive species removal.

“The work that The Woodlands does is extremely important and very special,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino. “Our Team Members are looking forward to partnering with this amazing organization to help prepare for busy retreat weekends at The Woodlands.”
