Rivers Casino Community Champions To Lend Helping Hand To Life’sWork Of Western PA
Casino Team Members to Assist Organization in Painting Project
PITTSBURGH — Feb. 24, 2016 — The Rivers Casino Community Champions will spend time with Life’sWork of Western PA today from 9 a.m.—2 p.m. Volunteer Team Members from the casino will be taking part in a painting project as well as other tasks.
Life’sWork is a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase the quality of life of persons with disabilities and others with barriers to employment through productive employment opportunities.
“Rivers Casino has a great relationship with Life’sWork and we respect the value they bring to the community,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development at Rivers Casino. “The Community Champions are looking forward to visiting the organization’s headquarters and helping out.”
Last November, Rivers Casino was honored by Life’sWork of Western PA with the James F. Compton Humanitarian Award for exemplary commitment to providing employment opportunities for people living with disabilities.
“Life’sWork is excited to have Rivers Casino Community Champions volunteer the time to help improve our facility for our clients and staff. It’s community involvement such as theirs that truly supports our mission,” said Geoffrey Stillson, Life’sWork interim president and CEO.
This volunteer effort is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. In 2015, Team Members donated more than 1,000 hours through the Community Champions program. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions visited Northside Common Ministries to cook meals, work the food pantry and paint several of the organization’s residential apartments.
