Rivers Casino Community Champions Take On Project With Manchester Citizens Corporation

Casino Team Members Support Effort to Create Homes for Pittsburgh Residents

PITTSBURGH — August 26, 2015 — To wrap up a summer of excellent volunteer efforts, the Rivers Casino Community Champions will be collaborating with the Manchester Citizens Corporation (MCC) on a series of indoor and outdoor projects. Rivers Team Members will join the MCC at its facility today from 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

The Rivers Casino Community Champions will be assisting the MCC on the North Side to complete a collection of projects both in the community and in the MCC offices.

MCC is one of the nation’s oldest sophisticated community development organizations. They are one of the first urban, community-based organizations in the nation to link historic preservation with economic development. The organization has a track record of leveraging resources to create housing units, both affordable and market-rate, single-dwelling and multi-family and senior housing as well.

“Working with groups like the Manchester Citizens Corporation is especially meaningful for us,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development at Rivers Casino. “We are committed to making Pittsburgh a great city to live, and the work done by the MCC makes that possible.”

This volunteer effort in the Manchester neighborhood is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions helped clean community gardens in the Larimer neighborhood.
