RIVERS CASINO COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS SUPPORT THE EAST END COOPERATIVE MINISTRY
Casino Team Members Assist with Gardening and Organization Projects

PITTSBURGHSeptember 28, 2015 — The Rivers Casino Community Champions will visit Pittsburgh’s East End this week to team up with the East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM). Rivers Team Members will perform a day of service on September 29 from 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

The Community Champions will work in the EECM urban community garden, in addition to helping residents in the assisted-living program clean and organize their apartments.

For many of the individuals it serves, the EECM provides the necessities of life: a hot meal, a safe place to sleep and food for the family. For others, it is a place to regain strength after a hospital stay, a support system to work toward recovery or one-on-one help to change life for the better. For young people, the EECM runs educational programs, drug and alcohol prevention programs, violence prevention programs and a summer day camp.

“The EECM provides vital resources to those in need,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development at Rivers Casino. “It’s a privilege for the Rivers Casino Community Champions to help support its mission.”

This volunteer effort is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed a series of indoor and outdoor projects with the Manchester Citizens Corporation.
