Team Members support historic community service center for this month’s project

PITTSBURGH  Sept. 26, 2018  Rivers Casino Community Champions will be volunteering with the Hill House Association for a day of outdoor community service on Friday, Sept. 28. Team Members will join the association in preparing the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Garden on Kirkpatrick Street by weeding, planting and cleaning up the outdoor garden in preparation for the fall season.

Over the past four decades, it is estimated that the Hill House has provided care and support for more than 500,000 children, adults and seniors living in urban environments. The Hill House serves clients through three strategic program areas: arts and education, senior services and neighborhood engagement.

"This will be the fourth year in a row we are partnering with the wonderful and energetic Team Members of Rivers Casino,” said Terri Baltimore, director of neighborhood engagement at the Hill House Association. "We can’t wait to get out and prepare the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Garden for the festive fall season. We’ll need all hands on deck for this fun project!”

This volunteer opportunity is part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed a project with Brighton Heights Citizens Federation in which, similar to this month’s community service day, they cleaned up the garden at the McClure Senior Center on McClure Avenue.

“We have a great relationship with the Hill House Association,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino. “The good work they do for the Hill District is immeasurable. Our Team Members are excited to get outside and show their green thumbs.”
