Team Members support local victim’s shelter for this month’s service project

PITTSBURGH — March 19, 2018 — On Thursday, March 22, the Rivers Casino Community Champions will embark on a service project in conjunction with Center for Victims to support women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Rivers Casino Team Members will volunteer their time at Center for Victims’ emergency shelter assisting with a spring cleaning and beautification project.

Center for Victims (CV) is the most comprehensive, inclusive provider of services, advocacy and education for victims of all crimes in Allegheny County and in Pennsylvania. CV’s crucial services assist women, children and men who have been victimized by any type of crime. It serves as a comprehensive crime victim and witness assistance center, domestic violence emergency shelter, rape crisis/sexual assault center, housing and counseling center, community crisis response team and professional development training, and education and advocacy center. For more information about Center for Victims, please visit http://www.centerforvictims.org/.

“Center for Victims has been a recognizable force in providing exceptional care to victims of crime,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino. “They continue to be an excellent resource for our community and to assist them in their mission is a privilege.”

This volunteer opportunity is part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed a service project with Life’sWork, where they painted the organization’s Forbes Avenue facility.

“Dr. Rahmon Hart has been a great friend to Center for Victims. We greatly appreciate our partnership with Rivers Casino and their Community Champions’ initiative. The volunteer’s compassion and their ‘roll up their sleeves’ work ethic brings warmth to the building and a lot of smiles on the faces of women and children,” said Fran Trimpey, director of development. “I can’t imagine what the world would be like without volunteers.”
