Team Members support local group for May project

PITTSBURGH — May 25, 2018 — On Wednesday, May 30, the Rivers Casino Community Champions will participate in a service project with Larimer Consensus Group (LCG) to support its Green Team with a landscaping and gardening project at the corridor garden on Larimer Avenue. Rivers Casino Team Members will volunteer their time laying down new mulch, cleaning and maintaining raised beds and planting flowers in the neighborhood green space.

LCG’s mission is to maintain, improve, and transform the Larimer neighborhood and surrounding communities from the ground up. Serving as a catalyst of community change, LCG unites Larimer residents and organizations by developing a strong sustainable community and economy through volunteer work. The overarching goal of LCG is to promote positive change by working collaboratively and creating a sense of community that residents can thrive on.

“Our community wouldn’t be the same without the steadfast dedication and synergetic service of the Larimer Consensus Group,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino. “We are more than happy to get outside and make this Larimer neighborhood garden even more beautiful and useful than it already is!”

This volunteer opportunity is part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed projects with the North American Rock Garden Society, the National Aviary and the Mexican War Streets Society, where they cleaned up local parks with their children.

“We are so excited to participate in another service project with the Rivers Casino Community Champions,” said Carolyn Peeks, Green Team Committee Chair. “Here at LCG, we really value the genuine positive attitude and work ethic of people like the Rivers volunteers!”
