Rivers Casino Community Champions Join Forces With Salvation Army
Rivers Team Members to go shopping with senior citizens for November project
PITTSBURGH — Nov. 14, 2018 — Rivers Casino Community Champions will participate in a volunteer effort with WTAE-TV Project Bundle-Up and The Salvation Army on Friday, Nov. 16. Team Members will be paired with local senior citizens to go shopping together for outerwear for the winter season.
WTAE-TV Project Bundle-Up is a joint venture between WTAE-TV and The Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania. This program provides children, ages 18 and under, and seniors, ages 62 and over, with brand new winter outerwear. This year, WTAE-TV Project Bundle-Up will help more than 5,000 individuals, though the need continues to increase each year.
With a sponsorship amount of $3,000, this experience will provide seniors an opportunity to pick out brand new gear for the cold weather. Each employee will act as a guide, liaison and friend to the senior with whom they are partnered. Additionally, Rivers Casino is invited to present a check for $3,000 live during the 2018 WTAE-TV Project Bundle-Up Telethon.
“These seniors will benefit greatly from the attention and support they receive from the Rivers Casino Team Members,” said Andrew Cader, WTAE-TV Project Bundle-Up Director. “Acts of kindness go a long way … and with Rivers’ help, we’re going to make a big difference this holiday season.”
This volunteer opportunity is part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed a project with Community Kitchen Pittsburgh for which they prepared three days’ worth of meals for local congregate feeding centers.
“The Salvation Army and Project Bundle-Up are recognizable forces of good in Pittsburgh,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino. “They continue to be an excellent resource for not only our Pittsburgh community, but for the country as a whole.”
