RIVERS CASINO COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS HELP “PAINT THE SQUARE PURPLE”

Team Members Show Support for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

PITTSBURGH – Oct. 10, 2014 – Rivers Casino Community Champions will volunteer their time with the Center for Victims (CV) during the “Paint the Square Purple” event in Market Square. In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, CV encourages individuals to wear purple and holds this annual event with vendors, general information, a press conference and more. The team of volunteers will lend a hand today, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m.— 2 p.m.

“Rivers is proud to show support for this worthy cause,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development for Rivers Casino. “Each month our Community Champions look forward to getting out in the community and spending time with local organizations.”

CV is the most comprehensive, inclusive provider of services, advocacy and education for victims of all crimes. Since 1976, it has been the leading agency in providing services to victims of rape, sexual assault, domestic violence and all crimes in Allegheny County.

“Volunteer groups help us to spread awareness for our mission and we are proud to work with such a hard-working team,” said President and CEO of CV, Laurie MacDonald.  “We are very grateful for Rivers Casino Community Champions’ support during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.”

The event support is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, Rivers Team Members helped replant flower beds and remove weeds in the Brighton Heights community.
