Rivers Casino Community Champions Help Bring Cheer To Senior Veterans

Volunteers Lend a Hand as Part of Casino’s Ongoing Commitment to Community

PITTSBURGH — Dec. 15, 2014 — Team Members from Rivers Casino will donate their time to help the Southwestern Veterans Center today, from 9 a.m.—3 p.m. More than 30 volunteer Community Champions from the casino will spread cheer to elderly residents in the facility during the “Presents for Patients” event.

During their visit, Rivers Casino Community Champions will walk through the center and mingle with residents, while delivering holiday treats.

“We hope that our visit to the Southwestern Veterans Center brings warmth and a friendly smile to our honored veterans during this holiday season,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development for Rivers Casino.

The Southwestern Veterans Center provides a broad spectrum of healthcare and related services to veterans who are disabled, chronically ill, or in need of specialized care. The center serves 236 veterans and its focus is to assist veterans in functioning independently and at their optimal levels within the limitations of their illnesses.

Volunteering at the Southwestern Veterans Center is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, Rivers Team Members partnered with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to pack boxes of non-perishable food items.
