Casino Team Members Partner with Brighton Heights Citizens Federation on Trail Restoration Project

PITTSBURGH – May 26, 2016 – The Rivers Casino Community Champions will team up with the Brighton Heights Citizens Federation, the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works and Trail Pittsburgh to take part in a trail restoration on the Brighton Woods Park Trail Connection to Riverview Park. Team Members from the casino will be cleaning up the trail tomorrow, May 27, from 9 a.m.—3 p.m.

The Brighton Heights Citizens Federation promotes and encourages the advancement of neighborhood improvements and a greater sense of community on Pittsburgh’s North Side. It unites citizens to work hand-in-hand to enhance the health, safety, welfare, property and well-being of the community.

“We are excited to hit the ground running on the first of our outdoor projects lined up for this spring and summer,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community development at Rivers Casino. “The Brighton Heights Citizens Federation helps create beautiful community spaces and we’re looking forward to aiding them in their mission.”

This volunteer project is a part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Team Members participate in a service project every month and more than 1,000 hours were donated by the Community Champions last year. Most recently, the Community Champions assisted in the opening and renovations of the Sherwood Event Center, operated by the Hosanna House in Wilkinsburg, PA.

“We greatly appreciate the Rivers Casino Community Champions’ help on the Brighton Woods Park Trail Connection cleanup,” said Susan Benn of the Brighton Heights Citizens Federation. “The trail will be a space for families to enjoy all summer long and for years to come.”
