1970s singing sensation rocks The Event Center on March 9

PITTSBURGH — Jan. 17, 2019 — For concertgoers looking for a “kool” new venue, The Event Center at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh welcomes its very first headliner performance.

R&B icons of the ‘70s, Kool & The Gang, best known for its smash hits “Jungle Boogie,” “Celebration” and “Get Down on It,” brings its iconic jazz, funk and R&B concert to The Event Center at Rivers Casino on Saturday, March 9, at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and start at $45.

Not only did Kool & The Gang dominate the R&B scene for many decades, its fierce horn lines and smooth sound have earned the group two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, the BET Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums. In addition to a stellar resume, Kool & The Gang has also been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and continues to be among the most sampled artists of all time.

In 2016, the East Coast natives resurfaced on the recording scene and released the single, “Sexy (Where’d You Get Yours),” which reached number 15 on the Billboard Adult R&B chart. Kool & The Gang has toured alongside Kid Rock, Dave Matthews Band, Elton John, The Roots and Van Halen, and continue to perform around the world.

“We’re so excited to welcome the legendary Kool & The Gang to Rivers,” said Rivers Casino General Manager Bill Keena. “The performance of its well-known hits will make for a fun night and great way to debut The Event Center.”

Tickets for Kool & The Gang’s show and for all Rivers Casino Pittsburgh performances can be purchased in the Rivers Casino Gift Shop or at RiversCasino.com

In addition to live performances and concerts, The Event Center at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh can be reserved for a variety of occasions, including corporate receptions, seminars, trade shows, weddings and more. The space features theatre-style seating for over 2,000 people or up to 800 for sit-down functions, and an integrated pre-function area.
