HOSANNA HOUSE WELCOMES RIVERS CASINO COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS FOR DAY OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE

Casino Team Members to Help Prepare for Summer Programs

PITTSBURGH May 9, 2017 — On Wednesday, May 10, the Rivers Casino Community Champions will volunteer for a day of service focused on helping Hosanna House, located in Wilkinsburg, PA, prepare its event center for the summer programs. Volunteers will donate their time and energy to assist in preparing the Sherwood Event Center by mulching landscaped areas, planting flowers and clearing weeds and debris in several areas ahead of the summer recreational programs.

Since its start, Hosanna House has served over 35,000 people each year and has made accessible to families and individuals quality health and human services. The organization’s mission is to provide opportunities that will empower families and individuals to discover, acknowledge and develop their maximum potential physically, spiritually and economically.

“Hosanna House is an essential resource in our community and we’re proud to support the great work they do each day,” said Craig Clark, general manager of Rivers Casino.

The Sherwood Event Center serves as the hub for summer recreational programs offered by Hosanna House, including swimming, Dek Hockey, tennis and basketball. Hosanna House services community residents every day and the Sherwood Center is a great asset to engage families in physical and social activity. In addition to recreational programs, Hosanna House also offers early childhood education, youth leadership training, career development services, addiction recovery, as well as food assistance programs and more.

“We’re so appreciative of the Rivers Casino Community Champions helping us get our Sherwood Center ready for the summer season again this year,” said Al Merritt, director of new business sales and facility operations at Hosanna House. “The support provided by companies throughout the region like Rivers Casino, is so important and helps us ensure we can continue to provide the needed services and programs to our residents.”

Each month, Rivers Casino’s Team Members assist in a volunteer service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community as part of the casinos ongoing community service outreach program. Earlier this year, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed service projects with The Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, the Brighton Heights Citizens Federation, the Center for Victims, Life’sWork and The Pittsburgh Project.
