Rivers Casino Takes Center Ice For $27,195 Donation To Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation
Player Goes Home with Matching Grand Prize from Lucky 7s Promotion
PITTSBURGH — April 10, 2015 — Hockey games usually end with only one winner. Tonight, thanks to Rivers Casino, Pens fans at CONSOL Energy Center were witness to two.
As part of its “Pittsburgh Penguins Lucky 7s” promotion, Rivers Casino treated seven lucky contestants with two tickets to the final Pens home game on April 10. Those fans had an opportunity to win a progressive grand prize that has been building since the Penguins’ season began. All seven people selected oversized playing cards in a musical chairs-style game, at center ice, in which the recipient of the joker card was eliminated. Player Jason A. walked away with the Progressive Grand Prize of $27,195.
The next big win came when Rivers Casino matched the Progressive Grand Prize in a donation to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. Rivers Casino General Manager Craig Clark, and Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation President Dave Soltesz participated in a check presentation on center ice.
“We love to celebrate victories at Rivers Casino,” said Craig Clark, general manager of Rivers Casino. “We’re happy for our big winner, Jason, and thrilled to support the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation with this donation.”
The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation actively promotes physical well-being, encourages teamwork, stresses the value of education and provides essential life skills to young people in the Pittsburgh community through youth hockey and other activities.
“We’re grateful to Rivers Casino for being a terrific partner,” said Dave Soltesz, president of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. “Thanks to their contribution, we’re able to carry out the programs that support our overall mission of the Foundation.”
