Let the hiring begin: Rivers Casino Portsmouth announces five job fairs

PORTSMOUTH, Va.—May 4, 2022—Rivers Casino Portsmouth announced today it will host five job fairs over the next five months at various locations throughout Hampton Roads.

Starting Tuesday, May 12, on the Portsmouth Campus of Tidewater Community College, job candidates interested in table games and dealer school are encouraged to stop by between 9 a.m. and noon; and again from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

More than two dozen representatives from Rush Street Gaming, including Rivers Casino Portsmouth General Manager Roy Corby, will be on-site to meet, greet, and answer questions about careers in tables games. Resumes and applications will be accepted at the fair.

“We’re thrilled to kick off our job fair series in the City of Portsmouth and offer local job seekers an opportunity to grow with our winning team,” said Roy Corby, General Manager, Rivers Casino Portsmouth. “We’ve developed a very thoughtful approach to filling opportunities, especially those that require training; and we’re moving quickly to ensure new team members are ready to serve our guests on day-one.”

Rivers Casino Portsmouth will open in early 2023.

During the table games and dealer school job fair, attendees will have an opportunity to submit applications for numerous table games opportunities including, blackjack, poker, craps, roulette, and more. Applications to attend a free dealer school and earn certification also will be accepted.

Rivers Casino Portsmouth representatives will present brief informational sessions at the top of each hour to provide an overview of the company’s departments, culture, and brand.

The new gaming and entertainment complex will bring 1,300 new permanent jobs and approximately 1,400 construction jobs to the area. Rivers Casino Portsmouth will continue partnering with Portsmouth Economic Development, Tidewater Community College, and the Hampton Roads Workforce Council for support with workforce development, hiring, and training.

In the coming months, Rivers Casino Portsmouth will host a total of five fairs. Next up in June, Rivers’ recruitment will focus on jobs in hospitality departments, such as food servers, bartenders, and cooks; and the remaining job fairs will feature general opportunities throughout the casino.
